10 Ways You Can Make a Donation to MHLC

10 Ways You Can Make a Donation to MHLC

Learn about the CARES Act: Three new tax benefits for 2020 donors!

1- Use your checkbook or give online. Make an immediate impact on conservation in the Capital Region! Mail your donation to MHLC, 425 Kenwood Ave, Delmar, NY 12054, or follow this link to donate online. Be sure to check with your employer to see if they will match your donation.

2- Set up a monthly recurring gift. Your annual gift can add up to so much more. Make it monthly and see your support add up. The ongoing support of monthly donors helps ensure that MHLC has resources to conserve land you love.

3- Give through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF). Read the latest MHLC Blog post “Charitable Giving Frustrated by New Tax Rules? A Donor Advised Fund might be for you,” by MHLC Supporter Nick Miller.

4- Make a gift of retirement assets such as your IRA, 401k, 403b, pension or other tax-deferred plans. Or make a charitable rollover gift to minimize income tax on your minimum required IRA distributions. The CARES Act allows for penalty-free withdrawals of up to $100,000 in 2020.

5- Donate stocks or bonds. Make a gift of appreciated securities and avoid paying capital gains tax.

6- Make a Legacy Society gift by pledging an estate gift to MHLC through a bequest or other life income gift. As a member of the Legacy Society, you demonstrate your support for MHLC, helping to sustain our conservation efforts for future generations.

7- Give your time. Volunteer with MHLC and put your skills and passions to good use.

8- Text-to-Donate. You can now make a gift right at the Preserve, use your phone to send a text or scan the QR code at the kiosk to donate. Look for the Text-to-Donate signs at the preserve kiosks!

9- Purchase an item for the MHLC Stewardship team! Our updated Amazon Wish List is coming soon. (Please include your contact information when purchasing so we know who to thank!)

10- Select MHLC as your preferred charity on Amazon Smile and 5% of every purchase you make will be donated to the Conservancy!

It takes many hands to conserve the Capital Region’s natural lands– please lend a hand by making a donation and by telling your friends to do the same.
