The 20-20 Challenge

Our mission is critical. We protect local lands, conserving fields, farms, and forests. This protection provides us all with vital access to nature for recreation, farming, ecological and habitat stability, and more.
Along with our many partners, we have saved more than 12,000 acres from further development that could have irreparably destroyed special spaces throughout our community. In fact, thanks to the Touhey family, we opened our 20th preserve in October 2020: the 50-acre Touhey Family Preserve. The Touheys’ commitment to preservation will benefit our entire community moving forward.

And thanks to another community-minded family, the Miller family, we have been issued a challenge to help fund our mission. Inspired by our 20th preserve and in memory of their father, Ed Miller, the Millers will match EVERY dollar donated, up to $20,000, before December 31, 2020. The challenge will provide the funds necessary for MHLC to save vulnerable spaces, protect fertile farmlands, and offer access to trails for walking, bike riding, bird-watching, and more!

UPDATE: The Miller family’s challenge has been met! In fact, it inspired an anonymous supporter to offer an additional $20,000 to extend the challenge!

The importance of our work has been reaffirmed as never before. And here’s your chance to challenge yourself! Make a tax-deductible contribution TODAY to preserve acreage for community use.
