Keep Calm and Hike On
While we endure this time of uncertainty and mounting concerns over the Coronavirus pandemic, the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy would like to offer you a breath of fresh air. With 36 miles of trails winding through the fields and forests on 18 preserves, MHLC encourages you to practice social distancing while enjoying the vast health benefits of being outdoors. As your local land trust, we have worked hard to conserve vital open spaces and provide opportunities to connect with nature in the Capital Region—caring for the health and well-being of our community has always been our driving force.
Currently, all MHLC Preserves remain open and will continue to be maintained by our dedicated stewardship staff and volunteers. Whether you need some fresh air and exercise after being inside for hours or a way to burn off your child’s pent-up energy, our preserves remain a local treasure. Spending time in nature reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, and provides a sense of connection to your community. We advise preserve visitors to be mindful of the latest guidelines*—keep a safe distance of at least six feet, avoid touching surfaces (no need to sign in at the kiosk at this time), and most importantly-please stay home if you are sick.
The safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers, visitors, and partners is our top priority, and we will continue monitoring the CDC and the State of New York guidelines for the latest recommendations on containing the COVID-19 virus. MHLC has postponed the Art on the Rail Trail Annual Fundraiser and the Lansing Farm Spring Fundraiser, and a few of our outdoor events in March were canceled as well. As the situation is changing rapidly, we encourage you to check our website regularly for updates.
MHLC staff will be working remotely, but our lines of communication are open. Should you have any questions, please contact us at email@example.com. Please direct any preserve or trail-related inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to connect with MHLC on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest news and happenings.
Thank you for your continued support as we press forward. Keep calm and hike on!
