On Saturday, July 21st, we invite you to our Summer Festival at Indian Ladder Farms! This day-long celebration allows each participant to design their own ideal summer day with free activities throughout the morning and afternoon and an emphasis on hiking, local food, and fun.
“Our annual Summer Festival and Hike-a-thon is an open invitation to our community to get outside and enjoy the beautiful land that surrounds us in the Capital Region,” says MHLC Executive Director, Mark King. “We are particularly excited to partner with Indian Ladder Farms in 2018 to create a memorable summer day for everyone. MHLC and the Open Space Institute permanently protected Indian Ladder Farms with an agricultural easement in 2003. Our Summer Festival is a continuation of this partnership with Indian Ladder Farms, and a celebration of the protection of land in the Helderbergs and the local food grown here. Whether you choose a full day of activities, or simply stop by for a drink and say hello, we hope to see you at the Summer Festival.”
Helderberg Hike-a-thon: Free Outings All Morning
Beginning at 9 AM ,we’re offering a menu of free outdoor adventures across the Helderbergs. The Helderberg Conservation Corridor is one of our priority conservation areas, and these hikes celebrate the unique features and beautiful landscapes that characterize the Helderbergs. Free activities include a plein air painting workshop, mountain biking, outdoor yoga, a family-friendly nature treasure hunt, a wilderness survival skills workshop, a bike-hike on the newly-paved entire length of the Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail, a cave tour of the Clarksville cave, an accessible history tour of Indian Ladder Farms, and more.
All Hike-a-thon outings are free, but spaces are limited. To learn more and to register for a morning adventure, visit our Hike-a-thon page. Online registrations close on Wednesday, July 18, but there will be a registration table at Indian Ladder Farms on the morning of Saturday, July 21 for the public to come and sign up for a hike that day.
