Project Update:

Thanks to an outpouring of support for this campaign, we have successfully completed the purchase of the Bond Road property in Guilderland, NY! This acquisition ensures the protection of the 225-acre Bond Road property and the expansion of the Bozen Kill Conservation Corridor to nearly 700 acres of critical forest and wetland habitat for wildlife.

We are thrilled to announce that the 225-acre Bond Road Property (Upper Bozen Kill Preserve) officially opens to the public starting on Sunday, December 22, 2024! The new addition features over 4 miles of trails that connect to the existing trail system, for a total of nearly 6 miles of trails.

To access the new entrance to the Upper Bozen Kill Preserve, continue north on Westfall Road past the existing Lower Bozen Kill Preserve entrance and turn left on Bond Rd. A parking lot and preserve kiosk can be found at the end of the road.

This conservation success was made possible by a collective effort. Funding from The Nature Conservancy, Scenic Hudson Inc., The Land Trust Alliance, The William Gundry Broughton Private Charitable Foundation, The Weill Foundation, and Fields Pond Foundation, along with the generous support from community members and the Town of Guilderland, played a crucial role. The final piece of our fundraising goal was met in August 2024 thanks to a $100,000 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant awarded from Albany County with funds provided by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

We are particularly grateful to landowners Bryan and Laurie Swift, who, together with their neighbor, initiated the process to secure the Bond Road property, making it possible for MHLC to acquire this land.

Thank you for supporting MHLC's campaign to expand the Bozen Kill Conservation Corridor!

An Exciting Opportunity

Through a partnership with neighboring landowners who purchased the property in October 2022, Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy had the opportunity to buy this spectacular property from the new owners and protect it forever.

With the success of this campaign, MHLC will ensure that the lands and waters of the Bozen Kill Conservation Corridor and its tributaries will be further protected - providing clean water, recreation, and critical habitat to support the many birds, plants, and animals that call this beautiful region home.

The Challenge

We need to raise a minimum of $550,000 to ensure the permanent protection of the Bond Road lands to expand the Bozen Kill Preserve and the Bozen Kill Conservation Corridor for the benefit of community health, water quality, wildlife and plants, and the environment.

With your support, we can raise the funds necessary to make this project a success and permanently protect this vital landscape. Please pledge your support or donate today to ensure that this unique and environmentally important parcel of land protected forever as part of the Bozen Kill Conservation Corridor. Your commitment to funding this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will make an impact that will ripple through generations.
